​Pochampally sarees originate from the pochampally village. These sarees are also famously called ikkat pochampally sarees. These sarees are pure silk and handwoven. Ikkat is a special type of Tie & die technique where the silk threads are dyed with colours first and then woven into a saree. These different coloured silk threads will be placed in vertical and horizontal direction to get a particular Design/pattern on the sarees.
​It will almost take seven days to weave an Ikkat pochampally silk sarees when two members work continuously. This process increases the worth of the saree, when compared to a Machine made artificial sarees.
